August Card Class "Back to School"
It’s back to school! So this month we made cards consistent with the school theme—an owl librarian, a new friend, crafty ribbon and scissors. Recipes are included with each project and the supply details are listed at the end of this post. Thanks for stopping by!
Card 1: Owl Librarian and Bookworm
All of the images in these cards are from the Check You Out stamp set. The books are actually 3 separate stamps. We used the stamparatus so that they were stacked perfectly. For the script embossing on the granny apple green cardstock, it was brushed with granny apple green using a sponge to draw out the design. It is called the Scripty 3D embossing folder and is turning out to be one of my new favorites. (You will see it again on the scissors card.)
Here is the recipe:
Stamp Sets: Check You Out
Pool Party cardstock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2"
Granny Apple Green cardstock 2 1/8 x 5 ½"
Early Espresso cardstock 2 1/4 x 3 1/2"
Whisper White cardstock 2 x 3 1/4"
Scripty 3D embossing folder
Ink Pads: Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Soft Suede, Calypso Coral
Stamparatus
Stamping sponge
Card 2: Walrus Window
I just loved this window card and got the idea from a card that I received from Cindy Baughman my sweet friend and SUI leader. You can check out her design using the On To Adventure stamp set on her blog post dated July 18, 2019 (stampedwithaloha.com). The window was cut using one of the larger labels from the Stitched Nested Label Dies. (Note: You can purchase these dies on their own or as a bundle with the Free as a Bird Stamp Set for a 10% discount.) Then coordinating sentiments were stamped on each side of the Mango Melody cardstock. I used the We’ll Walrus Be Friends set which has coordinating messages. Then I chose walrus images to stamp for the front and inside. I punched the images out using the 2” circle punch. Then punched 2 circles of 2 ¼” from black cardstock to adhere them to. Then I assembled the card and you can see what it looks like from the front and inside. Here are two of many options. I just love the walrus with the seagull on his head! For the epoxy heart, it was clear, but we colored it using a Blends Cherry Cobbler Dark marker.
Here is the recipe:
Stamp Sets: We’ll Walrus Be Friends
Basic Gray cardstock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2"
Coastal Cabana cardstock 4 x 5 1/4"
Mango Melody cardstock 2 x 4”
Basic Black cardstock 2 circles 2 1/4”
Whisper White cardstock 2 circles 2”
Epoxy heart, medium
2” Circle Punch
2 1/4” Circle Punch

Blends: Smoky Slate Light, Crumb Cake Light, Mango Melody Dark, Pool Party Dark, Cherry Cobbler Dark
Ink Pads: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
Card 3: Ribbons
Here is a fun stack of ribbons from the It Starts with Art stamp set. The sentiment is from this set too. The coordinating designer paper is called Follow Your Art. Like the previous card, the epoxy heart was colored using the Blend Calypso Coral Dark maker. Perfect for late night crafters!
Here is the recipe:
Stamp Set: It Starts With Art
Coastal Cabana cardstock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2"
Calypso Coral cardstock 3 x 3”
Whisper White cardstock 2 3/4 x 2 3/4”

Epoxy heart, large
Ink Pad: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
Blends: Daffodil Delight Dark and Light, Calypso Coral Dark and Light, Bermuda Bay Light

Card 4: Scissors
The images for this card are all from the Crafting Forever stamp set. The scissor looks just like our snips! A small rhinestone was used on the pivot point. We used the Scripty 3D embossing folder, this time on silver foil. I like how it makes the script stand out. For the Basic Black Cardstock, the Corrugated 3D embossing folder was used.
Here is the recipe:
Stamp Set: Crafting Forever
Smoky Slate cardstock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2”
Basic Black cardstock 3 1/4 x 4"
Lovely Lipstick cardstock 2 1/2 x 3”
