Hedgehog notebook and notebook folder

You may have seen these cute little hedgehogs popping up on pinterest and other Stampin' Up! posts.  I couldn't resist making some myself.  I have 2 projects to share with you featuring these cute little guys.

Project #1: Hedgehog notebook

The hedgehog was made using the sunflower from the Painted Harvest stamp set.  The larger flower image was stamped in Soft Suede--first stamped off before stamping the image.  Then the detail flower image was stamped in Soft Suede.  The face is the flower center stamped in crumb cake.  The eyes and nose is a stamp from the Foxy Friends stamp set, or it could be drawn in using a journaling pen.  Then cheeks were stamped in blushing bride using the eraser tip on a pencil.  I chose the sentiment from the Happiest of Days stamp set.

The whisper white piece that the hedgehog is stamped on measures 2 x 2 3/4".  The old olive frame measures 2 1/4 x 3".  The strip of designer paper measures 1 x 5 1/2".

I also added a pocket to the inside of the notebook.  The designer paper was cut to 3 x 4"  then the corner was trimmed off.  Fast Fuse was used to attach all of the pieces so that they would be secure and withstand a lot of handling.  The kraft grid journal is something that we used to have and it's included in the products for reference, but it is retired and no longer available.

Project #2: Hedgehog Notebook Folder

We made these folders in my December special holiday class.  Here are the cover designs.

Here is the inside.

This folder has a pocket on one side and a notebook attached to the other side.  It was made from a 2 pocket folder.  I originally shared how to make this folder in my post dated 5/2/17.  I've copied the instructions here.

Here is how to make this notebook folder:

  1. Start with a 2-pocket folder (see photo below).

  2. Cut down the height of the folder to 11".  Cut the top of the folder (the end that does not have the pockets).

  3. Cut the spine off the folder so that each side is 8 1/2" wide.

  4. Your original folder should now be in 2 pieces that are 8 1/2 by 11" each.

  5. Score down the middle of the 11" length at 5 1/2".  Fold on the score line.  You should now have 2 folders that are 8 1/2 x 5 1/2".

  6. One of your folders will open so that the pocket is on the left and the blank side is on the right.  For this one, cut the pocket flap on a diagonal so that it is easier to use.

  7. The other folder will have a pocket that opens upside down.  To fix this, cut open the top of the pocket, just follow the edge of the folder.  Then cut the flap on a diagonal.  Then use tear and tape to seal the bottom of the flap to make the pocket.  Now you have it set-up correctly.  See photo below.

  8. Attach a notepad to the right side of the inside of the folder.  I just used tear and tape on the back of the notepad and attached it to the folder.

  9. Decorate as desired and you have your finished folder!
