Little Kimono Girl
My quilting and stamping pal, Norine, made this really cute and handy bag. It is perfect for carrying my quilting projects and other goodies.
The fabric she used inspired me to make a card of a cute little girl in a kimono. This card was part of my monthly August card class.
During class, one of my friends had a great idea to turn the message on the card vertical and write Arigatoo (thank you in Japanese). This made it cuter and put to use the Japanese classes I took many years ago!
As we made the cards, we found that the longer the bangs, the younger and cuter the little girl looked! I used the 1 3/8" circle punch for her face and bangs. Cutting a little triangle snip in the bangs was a trick I learned from Cindy. Her cute little hair buns were made using the 3/4" circle punch. I drew her face using Project Life Journaling pens. For her cheeks, I used my favorite polka-dot technique--the eraser top of a pencil stamped with Blushing Bride classic ink. The flowers are made using the 4 petal flower punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch pack. Her kimono is made from the extra-large oval punch. I just trimmed a little of the bottom off when I attached it to the background (soft sky). The overall background (sahara sand) is embossed using the Boho Chic embossing folder which gives the card a texture that reminds me of kimono fabric. She looks great in all kinds of color combinations (and hairstyles). Have fun making your own!
