Pretty Plants and Party Penguins - August 2021 Class

Here are the cards from my Pretty Plants and Party Penguins stamp and go class.  For the 2 plant cards, the products are from the Bloom Where You’re Planted Suite.  Although it doesn’t have any critters 😊, I’ve been wanting to use this in class since the new catalog came out.  For the 2 penguin cards, you'll fall in love with the super cute Penguin Playmates DSP and Be Dazzling specialty paper from Sale-A-Bration, which runs through September 30th.  Recipes are included with each project and the supply details are listed at the end of this post.  Thanks for stopping by!

20210821 August class cards

Card 1: Plant Duo

This card features the Bloom Where You're Planted Suite.  The grid on this card is the Paper Lattice.  It comes ready to use in a pack of 10.  The plants and pots are a combination of stamped and cut out images from the Bloom Where You’re Planted DSP.  The Perfect plants dies were used to cut out most of the shapes.

20210821 Lattice plants card

20210821 more Lattice plants cards

Here is the recipe:

  • Stamp Set: Plentiful Plants, Timeless Tropical (may your birthday be memorable), Peaceful Moments (with deepest sympathy)
  • Basic White cardstock 8 ½ x 5 ½” and for the Everyday Label Punch and additional plants
  • Smoky Slate cardstock for pots
  • Garden Green cardstock for plants

  • Perfect Plants Dies

Card 2: Hanging Plant

More from the Bloom Where You're Planted Suite.  The idea for this card was inspired by the sample in the annual catalog plus a trip to Mari’s gardens.  They have many beautiful plants, including hanging plants.  To help with placement of the stamped pot, I used my stamparatus to stamp it in Cinnamon Cider so that the sentiment and hanging basket would fit.  I stamped the leafy plant in garden green hanging off the left side, then rotated the stamp 90 degrees and stamped it again so that it hung off the right side.  Next I stamped the plant with the berries on a separate piece of basic white cardstock and cut it out using the matching die.  I attached the die cut plant, then the hanging basket.  I used some linen thread at the top to hang it.  Brushed metallic adhesive dots were used to decorate the basket.

20210821 hanging plant card

Here is the recipe:

  • Stamp Set: Plentiful Plants
  • Gray Granite cardstock 8 ½ x 5 ½”
  • Basic White cardstock 2 ½ x 4 ¼” and for plant with berries
  • Crumb Cake cardstock 1 ½ x 3 ½” for hanging basket
  • Bloom Where You’re Planted DSP 2 x 5 ½”
  • Linen thread 2”
  • Ink Pads: Garden Green Classic Ink, Cinnamon Cider Classic Ink
  • Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots (3 small, 1 large)
  • Perfect Plants Dies
  • Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine

Card 3: Winter Friends

You will fall in love with these cute polar bears, penguins, and fox from the Penguin Playmates DSP.   The background uses the same DSP, starting with a 4 x 5 ¼” rectangle that is cut at a diagonal, then mixing the prints.  The animals were cut-out by hand and embellished with cute stars adhesive-backed sequins in black.  The double oval punch was used to punch the sentiment and scallop.  The presents on 2 of the cards are from the Penguin Place stamp set and were stamped in Fresh Freesia then cut out by hand.

20210821 Bear and fox dsp cards

Here is the recipe:

  • Stamp Set: Penguin Place, Hey Birthday Chick (happy birthday, let’s celebrate), From All of Us (thanks)

  • Gorgeous Grape cardstock for scallop oval

  • Cute Stars Adhesive-Backed Sequins – black (large and small)
  • Ink Pads: Fresh Freesia Classic Ink, Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Double Oval Punch

Card 4: Penguin Pals

To showcase the cute Penguin Playmates DSP as much as possible, I used the large memories and more card.  This way, we can see 4x6” of DSP—4 x 4 ½” for the top and 4 x 1 ½” for the bottom strip.  The penguin, snowman and fox were cut out from the DSP too.  The sparkly silver circle is from the Be Dazzling specialty paper, which is also a Sale-A-Bration item. Again the presents were from the Penguin Place stamp set, stamped in Fresh Freesia and cut out by hand.

Project 2: Notecards – 2 sets

These cards were made using the Coming Home Stamp set and Home Together Dies that coordinate with the Trimming the Town DSP.  The images were colored using blends.

For the card with 2 houses, the DSP is cut at 2 x 2”. You need it to cover the 3 ½” width, so cut it in half, then adhere to each end leaving a gap in the middle.  The basic black cardstock will cover the gap.

Winter Friends Class - November 2020

Here are the cards from my Winter Friends stamp and go class.  They include many of my favorite things—the holidays, owls and snowmen!  These guys are all so cute and will bring you much cheer.  Recipes are included with each project and the supply details are listed at the end of this post.  Thanks for stopping by!

November card class

Card 1: Owl with Present

On this card, the original stamp image was modified in 2 ways.  First the hanging spider was covered with an ornament that was manually cut out.  Then the surprised owl was covered with the die-cut owl holding a present.  The owl holding the present is slightly smaller than the owl it is covering, so when the image was stamped on the soft sea foam cardstock, a 3/8” dot was placed on the wing portion of the owl so that it was not stamped.

20201107 Owl present card

Here is the recipe:

  • Stamp Sets: Have a Hoot, Gnome for the Holidays, Little Treats
  • Pear Pizzaz cardstock 8 ½ x 5 ½”
  • Mossy Meadow cardstock 2 ½ x 2 ¾”
  • Soft Sea Foam cardstock 2 ¼ x 2 ½”
  • Whisper White cardstock ~1 ¼ x 1 ¼” for owl
  • Heartwarming Hugs DSP 2 ¾ x 5 ¼”
  • Snowflake Adhesive-backed sequins
  • Ink Pad: Memento Tuxedo Black, Real Red classic pad
  • Stampin’ Blends Combo Packs: Crumb Cake (light and dark), Old Olive (light), Real Red (dark)
  • Peek-A-Hoot dies
  • Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine

Card 2: Owls Under the Mistletoe

This card has an inner pocket that you can use to tuck in a gift card or other flat item.  The image with the owls was stamped on crumb cake then on whisper white and just the owls were cut out using the coordinating dies.

20201107 Mistletoe owls card (1)

20201107 Mistletoe owls card inside

Here is the recipe:

  • Stamp Set: Have a Hoot
  • Real Red cardstock 4 ¼ x 11” scored at 1 ¼ and 5 ½”
  • Mossy Meadow cardstock 2 ½ x 3 ¼”
  • Crumb Cake cardstock 2 ¼ x 3”
  • Whisper White cardstock ~1 ¼ x 2” for owls
  • Heartwarming Hugs DSP 4 x 4” and 4 x 1 ¼” (or 4 x 1 ½”)

  • Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine

Card 3: Old Fashioned Snowman

All of the images and sentiments for this card are from the Snow Wonder stamp set.  I really like the font and messages that are in this set.

20201107 Snowman card (1)

Here is the recipe:

  • Stamp Set: Snow Wonder
  • Sahara Sand cardstock 8 ½ x 5 ½”
  • Cherry Cobbler cardstock 5 x 3 ¾”

  • Snowflake Adhesive-backed sequins

  • Stampin’ Blends Combo Packs: Real Red (light and dark), Old Olive (light and dark), Smoky Slate (light and dark), Pumpkin Pie (dark), Soft Suede (dark)
  • Snow Time dies
  • Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine

Card 4: Sliding Snowman Gate Card

I saw this sliding center piece that holds the gate card together on a card made by another demonstrator and knew I had to try it using snowmen.  The middle piece actually slides off the card.  The card base is scored at 2 ¼” from the left and 2” from the right.  Then on the 2” side, a small sliver (less than 1/8”) was trimmed from the edge to allow space for the center piece to slide more freely.  The sliding center was made in layers as follows:

  • First layer – Stitched circle stamped with snowman with hat
  • 2nd layer – Mossy Meadow square cardstock
  • 3rd layer – 2 punched circles at 2 ¼”. Fold circles in half, then adhere to back of Mossy Meadow Cardstock.  Line up half circles so the join is down the middle and oriented vertically on the Mossy Meadow cardstock.
  • 4th layer – Stitched circle stamped with snowman looking at sky

Here is a side view of the piece.
