Summer Fun - May 2021 Class

Here are the cards from my Summer Fun stamp and go class.  They feature the new In Colors--Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya, Soft Succulent and Polished Pink--from the new annual catalog and other new products.  These cute puffins and woodland creatures will make you smile!  Recipes are included with each project and the supply details are listed at the end of this post.  Thanks for stopping by!

20210522 May class cards

Card 1: Woodland Creatures Party

This stamp set is designed to be stamped in 3 sections so that you can make a small tree or tall tree.  On this card, we created 3 separate sections by scoring at 4” and 6 ¼”, which creates an accordion fold.  Then used the Stamparatus to line up the images so that when the 3 sections are stamped, it becomes a tall tree when the cardstock is unfolded.  See the photos below for the folded and unfolded images.  Then color away!

Here is the recipe:

  • Stamp Set: Woodland Wonder
  • Fresh Freesia cardstock 8 ½ x 5 ½”
  • Granny Apple Green cardstock 3 ¾ x 4 ¾”
  • Basic White cardstock  3 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4” and 6 ¼”

  • Stampin’ Blends: Bronze, Ivory, Crumb Cake, Granny Apple Green, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Fresh Freesia, Polished Pink, Smoky Slate
  • Stamparatus

Card 2: Puffin with Cake

This little puffin is dancing in with a cake to celebrate a special occasion.  The cake was stamped with the puffin and also on a separate piece of basic white cardstock.  Then the plate and cake were cut-out (excluding the candles) and attached with a dimensional over the stamped cake image.  Color the images.  I also used Basic Black Stampin’ Blends to touch up the black on the puffin as needed.  The large flower flourish was attached with liquid glue (or you can use a glue dot).  Ready to celebrate!

Card 3: Party Puffin

This little puffin is ready for a party.  The little wrapped fish he is carrying was stamped on a separate piece of white stock and cut out.  Color the images including touching up the puffin with basic black as needed.  The string the fish is hanging from was drawn using a black fine point pen/marker.  Then the fish was attached near the end using a mini dimensional.  What a special gift!

Card 4: Best Puffin

This little puffin says you’re the best!  It’s a panel card, scored 2 1/8” from each side along the 8 ½” edge.  The DSP on the left panel was attached flush to the edge (the side closest to the heard).  The right panel was stamped with flowers.  The heart was punched from Basic White first, then the puffin and words were stamped.  A stem for the flower was drawn with a dark green marker and the images were colored, including touching up the puffin with basic black as needed.  The little flower was attached using liquid glue.  So sweet!

Animal Crackers - May 2023 Class

It’s time for a visit to the zoo!  Here are the cards from my Animal Crackers class.  All of the cards feature the new Zoo Crew Suite—pages 46-47 in the new Annual Catalog.  Recipes are included with each project and the supply details are listed at the end of this post.  Thanks for stopping by!

Card 1: Knitting Llama

Who wouldn’t love a scarf or sweater made by this cute llama!  The stamps and dies used are from the Zany Zoo bundle and the coordinating DSP is called Zoo crew.  It also features new colors—Lemon Lolly and Lemon Lime Twist.

20230527 Llama card

Tips:

  1. Die cut the little table from the middle of the crumb cake cardstock square used for the backing. It will be covered by the 3 x 3” DSP when you assemble the card .
  2. The llama can be stamped and colored with blends or cut out from the Zoo Crew DSP. I added color the llama from the DSP—Crumb Cake for the face and hooves and Petal Pink for the inner ears.

Here is the recipe:

  • Stamp Set: Zany Zoo*
  • Dies: Zany Zoo*
  • Zoo Crew DSP 3 x 3”
  • Crumb Cake cardstock 3 ¼ x 3 ¼”

Card 2: Circle Frame

This simple card is made by cutting out the stitched circle from the top layer to create a window to frame one of the cute zoo animals.  The ones shown in these cards are from the Zoo Crew DSP that were manually cut using snips.  For class, your kit will have three of the four animals shown in the photos.  The flowers were cut using the Zany Zoo dies and the centers are iridescent pearls basic jewels.

20230527 Circle cards

Tips:

  1. Use the 2 ½+ size circle to die cut the circle from the pool party card front. Feed it through the Die Cutting & Embossing machine with the card open.  The circle cut out will be used for the next card (Cycling Alligator).
  2. You could select different animals from other pages of the DSP and cut them out with snips or the coordinating die, if available. Or stamp, die cut, and color the image of your choice from the Zany Zoo stamp set.

Here is the recipe:

  • Stamp Sets: Zany Zoo*, Circle Sayings (for sentiment)
  • Dies: Zany Zoo*, Stylish Shapes
  • Zoo Crew DSP (for animals)
  • Pool Party cardstock 5 ½ x 8 ½”; for die cut stitched circle (size 2 ½+”)

Card 3: Cycling Alligator

This happy alligator is on his way with celebratory flowers!  Use the die cut circle from the previous card for the background, attach with dimensionals. You could die cut the alligator from the DSP.  I added color to the basket by coloring it in crumb cake.  Or use snips to cut out one of the other animals like the bunny on the scooter, roller skating ostrich, fox riding the moped…all are cute!

  • Stamp Set: Zany Zoo*
  • Dies: Zany Zoo*, Stylish Shapes

Card 4: Accordion Flip

I saw different variations of this accordion flip card.  For this version, I decided to use different sized flip pages.  The DSP is 5 ¼ x 12”, scored at 2”, 5” and 8”.  The 2” flap is folded first so that the animal images are inside, the rest are accordion folded, attach the 3” sections together.  See the top view of the folds below.

20230527 Accordion card top view

The 4” section of the DSP is attached to the Basic Black cardstock backing.  For each page of the card, see the sequential photos below.  Four versions are shown because the class kit includes 3 of the 4 options.  The animal for each version coordinates with the DSP used—stamp, die cut and color.

Circle Sayings and the new 2023-2025 In Colors

The new 2023-2025 in colors are very earthy and coordinate well together and with the main Stampin' Up! color collections.  Pebbled Path and Boho Blue are the ones I gravitate towards the most because they are similar to colors we used to fix our house.  Then Moody Mauve, Wild Wheat, and Copper Clay are soothing and pretty too!

Here is a set of note cards featuring all 5 new in-colors using the Circle Sayings Bundle, which includes the Circle Sayings Bundle and new 2 3/8" circle punch.   These are the “take and make” cards for my new catalog open house (May 7th).  Below are the individual cards and recipes too.  Thanks for stopping by in person and virtually!

Party Time in the Forest - April Class

Happy April!  Here are the cards from my Party Time in the Forest class.  All of the cards feature the Happy Forest Friends Suite, soon to be retired from the Annual Catalog (pgs 46-47)—smiling mushrooms, a fox, owl and bear.  Recipes are included with each project and the supply details are listed at the end of this post.  Thanks for stopping by!

Card 1: Smiling Mushrooms

This card features the mushroom print from the Happier Than Happy Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack.  Adding smiling faces to the mushrooms along with the conversation bubbles makes them come alive.  The faces are from the Taco Fiesta stamp set and, because they are photopolymer, are easy to stamp onto the mushrooms in exactly the right place.  So cute!

Tip: Stamp the sentiment on the Calypso Coral cardstock first.  Then emboss it using the Raindrops folder.

Card 3: Birthday Owl

Hoot, hoot, it’s your birthday.  This is a familiar pocket card layout, where the inside front of the card has a pocket to tuck in a little gift—a gift card, a tea bag, a photo, etc.  A small blender brush was used to apply the Pear Pizzaz ink to the bottom of the white cardstock first.  Then the tree stump and mushrooms were stamped next.

Tip: For the pocket, use a circle punch to notch the edge. This is important because it is a deep pocket and the notch will help to show and retrieve what is tucked inside.  For this card, the new 2 3/8” circle punch was used; however any size 1” or larger should be fine.
