Flowers & Flair - May 2025 Class Cards
05/23/2025
Here are the cards from my Flowers & Flair class. There is a variety of florals and food—a happy combination for the month with May Day and Mother’s day. The stamp sets and products are from the new Annual Catalog as well as newly released On-line Exclusives. Recipes are included with each project and the supply details are listed at the end of this post. Thanks for stopping by!
Card 1: Floral Window
Here is the feature card for today’s class that encompasses the theme—it has flowers and pink gems for flair. The combination of the soft pinks, greens and pecan is fresh and pretty. The window is cut from the oval die that includes a narrow border from the Impressions Abloom dies. We saved these pieces to use in the next card.
Here is the recipe:
- Stamp Set: Impressions Abloom*, With You In Mind
- Dies: Flowers Abloom*
- Granny Apple Green cardstock base, 5 ½ x 5 ¼”, scored at ½” and 4 ¾” along the 5 ¼” side, plus piece to die cut stems and leaves

- Soft Sea Foam cardstock 5 ¼ x 4”
- Basic White cardstock to die cut flowers
- Pretty in Pink cardstock to die cut small flowers

Card 2: Dim Sum Yum
I’ve been playing with the shapes from the Terrific Toadstools punch and the oval mushroom top first reminded me of mochi ice cream then dim sum. Once I figured this out, I knew I had to create a card of dim sum. The top of the dim sum is the small heart from the Bee Builder Punch. The face was stamped using one of the faces from the Bee My Valentine stamp set and cheeks stamped using an eraser top in Petal Pink ink. For the plate, I wanted it to look like a basket, so I used the dotted outline from the oval die cut in the first card, plus the oval itself, embossed using the glass design from the Glass & Gardens embossing folder. The chopsticks are toothpicks. Enjoy!
Here is the recipe:
- Stamp Set: Bee My Valentine (happy face)
- Dies: Impressions Abloom, Alphabet A La Mode
- Granny Apple Green cardstock 8 ½ x 5 ½”
- Pecan Pie cardstock for oval and oval border (die cut in previous card)
- Basic Black cardstock for letters
- Darling Duckling, Very Vanilla, and Soft Sea Foam cardstock punched from Terrific Toadstools punch (mushroom top) and Bee Builder punch (small heart)
- Petal Pink cardstock to die cut small flowers
- Punches: Terrific Toadstools, Bee Builder Punch
- Ink Pads: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink; Petal Pink Classic Ink
- Glass & Gardens Embossing Folder
Card 3: Popcorn
When I saw this popcorn bag with the glasses and shoes I had to have it. So cute! This card is based on a design and fancy fold card from another SUI demonstrator, Laura Milligan. Thank you for the inspiration!
Tips:
- For this fun-fold card, the Textured Notes die is partially cut from the Real Red base at the 2 ¾” fold. To do this, place the Real Red base with the 2 ¾” scored edge nearest the machine opening. Place the die so that the middle is at the scored 2 ¾” scored line and centered. Place the top die cutting plate so that the highest point of the beveled edge is just over the scored line. Put it through the machine. The die will only cut up to where the beveled edge begins to taper.
- For the multi-colored popcorn bag image, stamp the popcorn popcorn image on the Basic White rectangle base in Darling Duckling. Then clean the stamp and stamp it in Real Red ink on a separate piece of Basic White cardstock. Die cute the image stamped in Real Red. Then cut off the red popcorn and attach it on top of the Darling Duckling image using dimensionals.
- For the butter on the popcorn, use the small blending brush and Darling Duckling ink.
- The Basic Black cardstock, it can be attached at the bottom of the base to make a pocket if desired. To do this, only apply liquid glue to the side and bottom edges.
Here is the recipe:
- Stamp Set: Poppin’ By*
- Dies: Poppin’ By*, Textured Notes
- Real Red cardstock 11 x 4 ¼”, scored at 2 ¾” and 5 ½”
- Basic Black cardstock 2 x 4 1/4” plus piece to die cut shoes, glasses, and film frame
- Basic White cardstock to die cut rectangles from Textured Notes die (2 needed per card) and popcorn from Poppin’ by dies
- Ink Pads: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink; Real Red Classic Ink, Darling Duckling Classic Ink
- Small blending brush

Card 4: Flower Trio
Here are more flowers that were made from the Impressions Abloom stamp set. Use 2-step stamping to create the layered effect. The main color was Pretty in Pink and the accent color was Strawberry Slush. The centers were punched ½” circles. Because I wanted to make this a happy card, I stamped faces on the centers. The faces are from the retired Taco Fiesta stamp set. This card can also hold a gift card. The holder was created by folding on the 1” line, attaching the left edges with liquid glue, then punching through 2 layers on the center of the outer edge using the Modern Oval Punch.
Here is the recipe:
- Stamp Set: Impressions Abloom
- Die: Textured Notes
- Strawberry Slush cardstock 8 ½ x 5 ½”, scored at 1”, 2 1/8”, 6 3/8”
- Lemon Lime Twist cardstock 5 ½ x 2 1/8”
- Pretty in Pink cardstock to punch ½” circles
- Basic White cardstock 2 3/8 x 3 7/8”
- Early Espresso cardstock to cut Textured Notes die
- Punches: 1/2” punch, Modern Oval Punch
- Ink Pad: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, Pretty in Pink Classic Ink, Strawberry Slush Classic Ink, Lemon Lime Twist Classic Ink, Granny Apple Green Classic Ink
- Dotted Circles embossing folder
