July Card Class "On the Farm"

Hope you are having a great summer!  Thought it would be a good time to take a trip to the farm.  We’ll be making cards that include animals you’d find on a farm-a pig, a dog, a cow and a rabbit.  Plus, a pick-up truck to transport them.  Recipes are included with each project and the supply details are listed at the end of this post.  Thanks for stopping by!

20190720 July class cards

Card 1: Hula Dancing Pig

This card uses a pig from the stamp set This Little Piggy.  The image originally included a flower, so I removed it by cutting around the rubber stamp.  We gave her an island touch by adding a frosted flower embellishment colored with a Stampin’ Blend Cherry Cobbler Dark marker.  The skirt is just a strip of granny apple green snipped like grass.  Then one of the most popular stamp sets from last year, Tropical Chic, was used for the sentiment and hibiscus flowers in the background.

20190720 Pig Hula card

Here is the recipe:

  • Stamp Sets: This Little Piggy, Tropical Chic
  • Granny Apple Green cardstock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2", 1/2 x 1 1/8’ for skirt
  • Real Red cardstock 2 1/2 x 4 1/4"
  • Basic Black cardstock 2 1/4 x 3"
  • Whisper White cardstock 2 x 2 3/4"
  • Frosted flower embellishment
  • Blends: Petal Pink Light and Dark, Granny Apple Green Light and Dark, Crumb Cake Light, Cherry Cobbler Dark
  • Ink Pads: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, Real Red

Card 2: Dog Riding Pick-Up Truck

This pick-up truck was stamped on Granny Apple Green and cut out with snips.  The window of the truck was also cut out.  Then the truck was accented with Stampin’ Blends and the tires were colored black.  The hubcaps were made from silver foil by punching circles from it.  The sentiment and the dog were stamped on the whisper white background.  For easier placement, I put both stamps on the stamparatus.  To stamp the heart, a clear block was used.  Then I attached the cut-out truck using dimensionals.  This cute little dog looks so happy riding in the back of this truck!

June Card Class "New Friends"

Happy new Stampin’ Up! Catalog Year!  It was a busy June so I missed posting this before the month ended.  In June’s class we used a mix of old and new--a few critters with some florals too.  Recipes are included with each project and the supply details are listed at the end of this post.  Thanks for stopping by!

20190623 June cards

Card 1: Elephants and Balloons

Let’s start with the card that features “old friends”.  This pair of elephants is celebrating a special occasion with these bright Poppy Parade balloons.  All stamps used were from the Little Elephant stamp set and the shapes were punched using the Elephant Builder punch and Balloon Bouquet punch.

Card 2: Floral Impressions Panel Card

This card base uses one of the new In Colors – Purple Posy.  To create the panels, it was scored at 3 1/4” and 8 3/4” along the 11” edge.  Fold toward the center to create two panels—they are not uniform in size.  I wanted the larger panel to fit a 3 x 4” piece of designer series paper (DSP) to maximize the number of pieces I could cut from a single sheet.  And the DSP used is the beautiful new Perennial Essence DSP that is inspired by impressionist images.  The sentiment piece was attached with dimensionals only to the left side of the card.  The light colors of the flowers in the background on the whisper white cardstock were created by first stamping off.
