March Class Cards "Sweetest Thing"
03/24/2019
This month’s class was named after the Sweetest Thing bundle, which includes a stamp set of candy and candy jars with coordinating framelits. Plus we used the How Sweet It Is Designer Series paper and some happy frogs from Sale-A-Bration. Recipes are included with each project and the supply details are listed at the end of this post. Thanks for hopping by!

This cute little frog is multi-talented—juggling and riding a unicycle. Perfect to celebrate a special event. The colorful diagonal striped paper is from the How Sweet It Is DSP. The frog is from the So Hoppy Together stamp set and cut out using the coordinating special edition framelits Hop Around. The enamel dots that the frog is juggling is the largest circle size in the Glitter Enamel Dots pack.

Card 3: Sweet Treat Jars
This is a z-fold card that was inspired by Kim Williams, a wonderful Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator in PA. We were lucky enough to have her visit Hawaii and share this card with us at our February Inspiration Night with Cindy Baughman (my awesome upline!) who is a close friend of hers. You can check out Kim’s blog post dated 3/9/19 about the Z-card here. Kim made hers oriented landscape, I just flipped mine and made it oriented portrait. It looks complicated but once you make it you’ll find that you’ll want to make more! Cindy was also an inspiration for this card because she made a swap with this DSP and jar cutouts--hers was oriented the same way as Kim’s.
I included some instructions here, but you can also follow Kim’s through the link above.
- Cut the cardstock base at 8 ½ by 5 ½” (Highland Heather).
- Along the 8 1/2” base, score the card at 2 1/8” and 4 1/4”.
- Fold the card in half, then fold the card front back at the 2 1/8” scoreline.
- Attach the DSP and cardstock to the card base as shown in the photo. You now have the card base completed.
- For the strip at the bottom, cut the cardstock at 1 ½ x 8 ½” (Highland Heather)
- Along the 8 1/2” base, score the card at 4 1/4” and 6 5/8” (or 2 1/8”).
- Stamp the long sentiment on the section that is 4 1/4” wide. Stamp the short sentiment on the section that is 2 1/8” wide.
- Fold the strip in half then fold it back on the 6 5/8” scoreline.
- Attach the strip portion with the 4 ¼” half to the 2 1/8” card base panel on left.
- Attach the other end of the strip that has the 2 1/8” scored piece to the bottom right half of the inside of the card base that is showing.
- Using the Jar of Sweets framelits, cut out 3 jars from the How Sweet it is DSP.
- Attach the jars using dimensionals. Note: For the large jar in the middle, only place dimensionals on the left side of the jar.
- Add Glitter enamel dots and embellish the jars and candy with wink of Stella. All done!
Here is the recipe:
- Stamp Set: Sweetest Thing
- Highland Heather cardstock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4 and 2 1/8
- Highland Heather cardstock 8 1/2 x 1 1/2", scored at 4 1/4 and 2 1/8
- Whisper White Cardstock 5 1/4 x 4”
- How Sweet It Is DSP 2 x 4” and for the 3 candy jars
- Jar of Sweets framelits
- Big Shot
- Glitter Enamel Dots
- Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
- Wink of Stella clear
Card 4: Gumballs
The gumball machine was cut out from the How Sweet It Is DSP by hand. Unlike the jars in the previous card, there was no coordinating framelit. The gumballs outside of the machine were punched from the same DSP using a standard handheld hole punch. After assembling the card, the gumball machine and gumballs were embellished with Wink of Stella and Glitter Enamel Dots were also used. TIP: For the 1 ½” circle in Lovely Lipstick under the sentiment, punch it from the Lovely Lipstick cardstock used for the background before adhering the striped DSP to it. The punched hole is hidden on your final card and you will have made efficient use of your cardstock!
Here is the recipe:
- Stamp Set: Sweetest Thing
- Whisper White Cardstock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" and 1 3/8” circle scallop
- Lovely Lipstick cardstock 3 1/4 x 4 1/4", punch 1 ½” circle from the middle of this piece
- How Sweet It Is DSP 3 x 4” and for the gumball machine and gumballs
- Glitter Enamel Dots
- 1 ½” circle punch
- 1 3/8” scallop circle punch
- Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
- Wink of Stella clear
