January Card Class "Hey Love"
01/18/2019
This month’s class was named after one of the new stamp sets in the Occasions Catalog, Hey Love—sooo cute and, yes, you know it has critters! I think the otter is my favorite, no the bird, no the skunk, no the chipmunk/beaver…I just can’t decide. Hope you fall in love with them too! The only critter in the set that we did not use this month is the alligator. For the fourth card, two Sale-A-Bration items are featured—the yummy cupcake and dazzling foil sheets. Recipes are included with each project and the supply details are listed at the end of this post.
Card 1: Otter Valentine
This cute little guy reminds me of a trip to the Monterey Aquarium. He is colored with Stampin’ Blends. Next to the sentiment, I used an epoxy heart that was colored with Stampin’ Blends Calypso Coral dark. The gingham background paper is a great accent. This designer paper has small checks on one side (used here) and larger checks on the other side (used on the next card).
Here is the recipe:
- Stamp Set: Hey Love
- Crumb Cake cardstock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2"
- Whisper White cardstock - stitched oval 1 7/8 x 2 7/8”
- Basic Black cardstock – scalloped oval 2 x 3”
- Gingham Gala Designer Series paper 2 x 5 1/4"
- Heart Epoxy Droplets (medium heart)
- Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
- Stampin’ Blends: Crumb Cake dark and light, Balmy Blue light, Calypso Coral dark
- Stitched Shapes framelits
- Layering Ovals framelits
- Wink of Stella clear
- Big Shot
Card 2: Thankful Ape and Bird
Here are more cute critters from Hey Love. We used the Stamparatus to position the bird perfectly on the Ape’s head. They are colored in Stampin’ Blends. The gingham designer paper shows the larger check size.
Here is the recipe:
- Stamp Sets: Hey Love, Thankful Thoughts
- Gray Granite cardstock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2"
- Whisper White cardstock 2 1/2 x 3 1/4”
- Basic Black cardstock 2 3/4 x 3 1/2”
- Gingham Gala Designer Series paper 2 x 4"
- Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
- Stampin’ Blends: Basic Black light, Smoky Slate dark and light, Daffodil Delight dark and light, Real Red dark and light, Granny Apple Green dark and light
Card 3: Stinkin’ Sweet
Another pair of cute critters from Hey Love. The skunk and the chipmunk/beaver (I originally thought it was a chipmunk but was told it’s a beaver because of the teeth, hee hee--you decide). They were colored like the others with Stampin’ Blends and the smallest size epoxy heart was placed on the heart that the chipmunk/beaver is holding.
Here is the recipe:
- Stamp Set: Hey Love
- Gorgeous Grape cardstock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2"
- Whisper White cardstock 2 1/2 x 2 1/4”
- Basic Black cardstock 2 3/4 x 2 1/2”
- Gingham Gala Designer Series paper 4 x 2 1/2"
- Heart Epoxy Droplets (smallest heart)
- Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
- Stampin’ Blends: Bronze, Ivory, Smoky Slate light, Highland Heather dark and light, Flirty Flamingo dark and light
- Wink of Stella clear
Card 4: Sweet Wishes Cupcake
Who can resist a cupcake? This yummy one was made using the Hello Cupcake Sale-A-Bration set. The frosting was stamped in Grapefruit Grove and the sprinkles and heart were stamped in Lovely Lipstick. The colors coordinate with the foil sheets behind the cupcake, which are Sale-A-Bration products too! If you look closely, you will see that an epoxy heart was placed on the heart cupcake decoration.
Here is the recipe:
- Stamp Set: Hello Cupcake
- Very Vanilla cardstock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" and 2 1/2 x 2 3/4”
- Early Espresso 2 3/4 x 3”
- Lovely Lipstick foil sheet 1 3/4 x 4”
- Grapefruit Grove foil sheet 1 3/4 x 4”
- Classic Inks: Grapefruit Grove, Lovely Lipstick, Early Espresso
- Heart Epoxy Droplets (largest heart)
- Wink of Stella Clear
