"We Must Celebrate" Cards

One of my favorite stamp sets from the Occasions catalog is We Must Celebrate (retiring on May 31st).  This set is the theme for all of the projects made at our Stamped With Aloha Inspiration Night May meeting.  We also used the balloon honeycomb embellishments.  Recipes are included with each project and the supply details are listed at the end of this post.  Hope you enjoy these cute critters!

Card 1: Tower of Critters

The stamp set comes with all of the animals as a single piece.  For this card, the animals were cut into separate stamps.  The Stamparatus was used for a foolproof way to position these critters.  The bear and squirrel stamps were positioned on one plate, then the racoon was positioned on the other plate.  The bear/squirrel combination was stamped first.  Then the bear was covered with a post-it mask and the racoon was stamped.  The animals were colored with Stampin’ Blends and finally the balloon string was drawn with a journaling pen.

Card 3: Birdhouse Birthday

The spotlight technique was used on this card to highlight the little bird in its house.  This involved stamping the image on the background cardstock.  Then stamping it again on another piece (in this case it was whisper white cardstock) and punching out only a selected area.  Then the selected area can be highlighted further with coloring.  The spotlighted area was punched with the 1 1/4” circle punch and framed with a basic black circle punched using the 1 3/8” circle punch.  This technique is also helpful because it reduces a large coloring area to just the spotlighted portion.

Card 4: Happy Bird-Day

This cute little cockatiel will make that birthday person smile when you wish them a happy bird-day!  The birthday sentiment was stamped first, then the cockatiel was stamped second because it is a photopolymer stamp so placement on the letter was easy.  Coloring the b-i-r-d letter in blue then made that word stand out. Stampin’ blends really helped to give the images a print quality.
