April Card Class "At the Beach"

Here are the cards that we made in April’s class.  In keeping with the theme, three of the cards have something to do with the beach or being outdoors.  The fourth card is a cute stuffed bunny where we used the new Stamparatus, which made the 3-step layered stamping so easy!  Recipes are included with each project and the supply details are listed at the end of this post.

Card 1: Tropical Island

Transport yourself into rest and relaxation.  Hear the waves washing up on shore and feel the warmth of the sun when you view this card.  The island scene was created using the stamp set Waterfront.  For the bottom half of the card, the pool party cardstock was embossed with the Seaside folder for the waves.  The 3D textured impressions embossing folder Ruffled works well too.

  • Early Espresso cardstock 2 3/4 x 3 1/2"
  • Whisper white cardstock 2 1/2 x 3 1/4"
  • Classic Pads: Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist, Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso
  • Embossing Folder: Seaside or Ruffled

Card 2: Surf’s Up

These three surfboards standing in the sand remind me of a watercolor print I have hanging in my home.  The surfboards were made from the petals of the Daisy punch using Pool Party, Rich Razzleberry and Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.  The lines were drawn on the surfboards using a ruler and an Early Espresso stampin’ write marker.  The sand was painted on the Whisper White cardstock with an aqua painter using Daffodil Delight classic ink.  The sun is from the In the City stamp set and the sentiment is from the Beautiful You stamp set.

Card 3: Jean’s Pocket with Sunglasses

Here is a jean’s pocket with a pair of sunglasses hanging from it.  All of the images are from the Pocketful of Sunshine stamp set.  The jeans stitching was stamped using Dapper Denim Classic Ink on Dapper Denim cardstock.  The pocket was stamped on a separate piece of Dapper Demin cardstock and then cut out using the Pocket Framelits.  The pocket flaps were folded then attached to the card with liquid glue.  It is a true pocket so something can be tucked inside like money or a small treat.  The sunglasses were stamped on Flirty Flamingo cardstock and cut out using the Pocket Framelits.  The lenses were colored with Wink of Stella and small rhinestones on the frames were added for some glam.

Card 4: Stuffed Bunny

This card features the bunny from the Sweet Little Something stamp set.  The bunny is made by layering 3 stamp images from the fullest image to the most detailed image.  The first image was stamped in Sahara Sand.  Then the next layer was stamped in Crumb Cake.  Then the final most detailed image was stamped in Soft Suede.  To make the placement of each layer easier, we used the Stamparatus.  This made alignment and stamping a clean image simple and easily repeatable.
