June Card Class "Sleepovers & S'mores"
06/29/2017
Hello summer! The cards that we made in class this month remind me of this fun time of year. You may also notice that I swapped out one of the cards from the sneak peek post--you'll see it in August's class instead. Here we go...
Card #1: Lemon and Limeade
We need cold refreshment during the summer and what's better than lemonade! Here is pink lemonade and a limeade. The Mixed Drinks stamp set uses 2 step stamping to create the images--I stamped the outline in Memento Tuxedo black then filled in each glass with the matching images stamped in Powder Pink and Lemon Lime Twist. Having a cherry with ice and a lime slice with a straw make them more appetizing. Then coloring the liquids with Clear Wink of Stella really finishes it off. The circle is the 2 3/8" size from the layering circles framelits. The Lemon Lime Twist half of the card is embossed with the new Polka Dots Basic textured embossing folder.
Card #2: Bike Ride
Riding our bikes around the neighborhood was always fun. Having a dog to ride on your bike with you is even better. We didn't have a dog but wished we did. This bike was made using the Bike Ride stamp set and coordinating Build a Bike framelits. This stamp uses 2-step stamping too--the dog was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, then the body was stamped in crumb cake and the kerchief in dapper denim. For the bike, the frame was stamped in Smoky Slate and then the handlebar grips, pedal and seat were each stamped in Sweet Sugarplum. It can be used for any occasion--use the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set to determine which sentiment would be best, then stamp and punch out with the Classic Label punch.
Card #3: You're Delightful
This card features the You're Delightful hostess set and Pick a Pattern designer series paper. I did 3 different versions to use the caption images and P.S. messages from the stamp set. The happy face with camera designer paper reminds me of photos on summer vacation. It's a simple design that is easy to adapt with other stamps sets and designer paper.
Card #4: At the Bon Dance
So this is the card that was not included in the sneak peek. Once I created the little girl (from June's Inspiration Night, see post on 6/20), I knew I had to make a card with her at a bon dance, a Japanese Buddhist custom to honor ancestors, which is a summer event that includes food and traditional Japanese dance. She is also featured on my parent's 50th anniversary card from my post on 6/26. She is made primarily using the new Lemon Builder punch. Please see the instructions on my post from 6/26 for how to make her. The Foil Frenzy specialty designer paper was perfect for her kimono. For the lanterns, I used the new Circle Tab punch. I punched it in Whisper White and Basic Black. Then using the Basic Black tab as the base, I cut down the rectangular end to be thinner and shorter and cut the tab into 2 pieces. Then for the white piece, I trimmed out only the circle portions of the tab and attached it on top of the black base. They were then attached to the card with dimensionals lined up with the linen thread.
Hope you enjoyed June's class!
