April Card Class "Under the Rainbow"

Here are the cards that we made in April's class.

20170422 April class cards

Card #1: Little Boy with the Rainbow Shave Ice

This is one of my favorite cards ever!  The little boy reminds me of my nephews and rainbow shave ice is my all time favorite flavor.  For the rainbow shave ice, I used sponge daubers.  I started with daffodil delight, then did the real red and then the tempting turquoise.  If you look closely, where the colors overlap, it's orange and green, just like real rainbow shave ice!  Then to finish it off, I colored the rainbow shave ice with Clear Wink of Stella.  It made it sparkle like shave ice does in the sun.  The shave ice was punched using the 1 1/2" circle from whisper white.  The cone is the retired tree punch at 1 3/4" high.

For the little boy, his head and hair are punched from the 1 3/4" circle punch.  His body was punched using the best badge punch.  His shorts are just a rectangle the width of the best badge with a triangle cut-out on the bottom.  His arms and hand were made from the legs of the cookie cutter punch.  And finally his face uses the eyes and mouth from the Playful Pals set.  His cheeks are stamped in blushing bride ink using the eraser top on a pencil.  You can easily make little girls instead with a swimsuit top, ponytail or other hairdos--everyone had a lot of fun customizing their little person and making shave ice in their favorite flavor(s).

Card #2: Under the Rainbow

The images for this card are from the Over the Rainbow stamp set.  The words on the gold foil were stamped using Staz On Black.  The rainbow on the vanilla card stock was stamped in Memento Tuxedo black.  Then the letters were colored with Stampin' Write Markers using brights.

Card #3: Under the Umbrella

This card uses images from the Beautiful You stamp set.  The umbrella was also stamped on Tip Top Taupe designer patterned paper and cut out, then added to the card with a dimensional.  The girl's outfit was colored using Stampin' Write markers in Flirty Flamingo and Tip Top Taupe to match the cardstock and designer paper.

Card #4: Happy Happy Birthday to You

The Happy Celebrations stamp set and coordinating embossing folders were used to make this card.  The candles at the bottom were punched using the Candle Border punch.  The centers of the flowers were colored using Gold Wink of Stella.  The color combination of Peekaboo Peach, Watermelon Wonder and Very Vanilla remind me of rainbow sherbet.  Do you remember the rainbow sherbet fruit punch float with 7-up at parties when you were a little kid?  It was one of my favorite treats.

Pirate 3rd Birthday Party Favors

My cute little nephew just turned 3.  He had a Peter Pan and pirate themed birthday party.  My sister and I made some peter pan themed treat bags as for the party favors.  We were inspired by a post on pinterest.  See if you can recognize the characters.

The New Stamp Room is finished!

Thanks for following the progress of my new stamp room.  Again a big thank you to all of our awesome contractors and the team at Organized Hawaii for transforming the garage into a wonderful space.  And a thank you to a good friend for her design assistance and being an expert to bounce ideas off of.

I had a great time moving all of my stamping goodies from upstairs into the new space.  I went up and down the stairs many times--who knew I had so much to move!  I also had class supplies stored in a cabinet in the living room that was moved to the new space.  So I filled up all of the space on the side of the garage designated for my stamping stuff.  Then I appropriated 2 more cabinets from the other side.  Luckily I have an understanding and supportive spouse!  Then we moved in all of the garage things and shoes.  Everything fits comfortably with room to spare, whew!  I did not want to stack things on top of the cabinets.

The new space has been put to good use.  I've used it for several months of card classes, prep and creative time.  I've been enjoying the AC and it even feels like I have a indoor laundry room--an extra bonus that I hadn't anticipated.

Here is the room set-up for class for the first time in March.  I took a photo from each corner, starting with the view from the door into the house and going clockwise around the room.

Installing Cabinets in the New Stamp Room

Here is the next installment of the transformation of the garage into the new stamp room.  The space is now ready for cabinets!

Here is the team from Organized Hawaii hard at work on the install.

Garage - cabinet install 2

This side of the garage will have a seating bench and will be mostly for "garage" stuff.  The cabinet he is working on now is for shoes.  The cabinets on this side are 14" deep.

Garage-cabinet install 1

This side of the garage will have a butcher block countertop, uppers, drawers and cabinets.  The uppers are 12" deep and the rest of the units are 2 feet deep.
