October Card Class "Merry & Bright"
10/29/2016
Here are the cards from my October class. It was fun to get into the spirit of the holidays and listen to Christmas music while we made our cards. All of the supplies used to make these cards are included at the end of this post.
Card #1: Gingerbread Cookie Card
Every year, we make gingerbread cookies and have the kids come over and decorate them--that was the inspiration for this card. I also like the combination of soft sky, real red, and white for the holidays. We used the gingerbread stamp from the Cookie Cutter Christmas set and then coordinating Cookie Cutter Builder Punch to create the cookie cutter. It may be even better to use the silver foil paper to make the cookie cutter instead of the basic gray cardstock that I used here. The handle was made using the Classic Label punch with the pointed ends cut off. It was folded to make a handle. Then the smallest size White Perfect Accents were colored with a black Sharpie and attached to the cookie cutter handle. The gingerbread was stamped in soft suede classic ink. Then the medium size White Perfect Accents were colored with a red Sharpie and attached as buttons. I really like the ribbon at the top which is the Real Red 3/4" Stitched Edge Ribbon, I think it gives it that extra punch.
Card #2: Peaceful Pines Panel Card
This Christmas tree card is simple and quick. We stamped the tree from Peaceful Pines on Very Vanilla cardstock. The complementary background paper is from the This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. We also did not need to stamp a separate greeting because it is part of the tree. A star was punched from cherry cobbler cardstock using the Confetti Stars Border punch and accented with a small rhinestone then glued to the top of the tree. Cherry cobbler cardstock was used to create the panel card, which was scored 2 1/8" from each edge along the 8 1/2" length.
Card #3: Merry Mouse Card
If you like Christmas mice, then the Merry Mice stamp set is for you! One of the images from this set is featured on this card. It was stamped in Black Staz On ink on watercolor paper so that the image would not smear when it was colored. The mouse was then colored using Aqua painters and ink from the classic pads. To use the ink, press the classic pad together before opening the cover, then when you open the pad, there will be ink on the inside of the cover that you can use to color.
Card #4: Fox and Snowball Card
This cute little fox is peeking around a giant snowball. The fox is from the Jolly Friends stamp set and was stamped onto Cajun Craze cardstock then punched out using the Fox Builder punch. For the white part of his face, we colored it using the White Stampin' Chalk Marker. His hat was punched using the Jolly Hat builder punch from Silver Glimmer paper and whisper white. His paws were also punched using the Fox Builder punch--they are the small tuft shape that is normally used for the tip of his tail. The snowball was cut using the 2 3/8" size circle framelit. The blue in the greeting and background is Marina Mist. We also used the largest size Perfect White Accents on the side of the card.
Hope you enjoyed the October class. My final 2 class weekends of the year are coming up on November 5th/6th "Candy Canes & Cookies" and 19th/20th "Under the Stars". You can expect more holiday fun in these classes. Check out my post from 10/4 for a sneak peek of "Candy Canes & Cookies". Lookout for a sneak peek of "Under the Stars" in the early part of November. Spaces are still available so please contact me to reserve your spot.
