September Card Class "Nutty For You"

Here are the cards from my September class.  All of the supplies used to make these cards are included at the end of this post.

20160918 Nutty for You Class

Card #1: Acorn Thanks Card

This is the theme card that was made using the Acorn Builder punch and the Acorny Thank you stamp set.  The thanks was cut using the Hello You thinlits dies.  The background is the Fruit Stand designer series paper.

Here are a few tips:

  1. Save paper by cutting out the "thanks" from the early espresso cardstock used for the backing before attaching the designer paper to it.
  2. Position the acorn top and acorn body on the same clear block so that you can punch out both shapes at the same time with the Acorn Builder punch.  To position the stamps: (a) Punch out the acorn shapes from a piece of cardstock; (b) use the cardstock "negative" of the punched out shapes to position the acorn top and acorn body photopolymer stamps on a clear block; (c) stamp the images and do a test punch; (d) adjust the placement of the stamps on the blocks as needed.

Card #2: Fruity Sentiment Card

This card features the Fruit Stand designer paper.  It was cut into a 4" square and is the main feature of the card.  The sentiment is from the Watercolor Wishes stamp set--this exclusive stamp set is part of the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit.  The flower and leaves from the Fresh Fruit set was used to help coordinate the sentiment.   A rhinestone in the flower center adds some sparkle.  This layout is a great way to feature your favorite designer paper patterns and all you need is a sentiment.

Card #3: Haunted House Card

My sister has a birthday in October so I always like to give her a Halloween themed birthday card that is cute and not scary.  This one has a cute little smiling ghost.  The Home Sweet Home Thinlits Dies were used for the ghost, house, door, windows and window frame.  The house framelit cutout is made to fold into a 3-d house, so we simply trimmed the edges on the score marks to get the house shape.  The slats on the house were stamped using one of the backgrounds from the Playful Backgrounds set.  The roof of the house was made using the classic label punch, one for each side of the roof.  For the light in the window, a 1" circle was punched from Crushed Curry cardstock and attached to the back of the house.

Card #4: Jar of Strawberries Card

Strawberries are one of my favorite fruits and also remind me of my other favorite hobby, quilting and fabric crafts.  This card was inspired by strawberry pincushions that I had made and stored in a Ball jar.  This one sits on the shelf in my craft room.  For those of you who have seen my craft room, it's on the quilting side of the room.

When Stampin' up came out with the Jar of Love stamp set and coordinating Everyday Jars Framelits dies, I had to have them right away.  I can't believe it's taken me this long to use them in class!  Though we didn't use the jar framelits yet, we will soon...  There are so many things that we can use the jars for.

The sides of the jar were colored in soft sky using the aqua painters to make it look like glass.  The strawberries were made using the Blossom Builder punch.  The largest petal was punched for the strawberry and the 5 petal flower was punched for the leafy top.  The 5 petal flower was trimmed to 3 petals, then the 2 petals were attached underneath.

Hope you enjoyed the September class.  My October class is all about the holidays and is called "Merry & Bright".  Spaces are still available in the 1 pm class on October 15th.  Please email to reserve our spot ([email protected]).
