Construction Bear Birthday Card & Tags

This weekend was my nephew's 2nd birthday.  The theme centered around construction vehicles and trucks.  My sister and brother in law did an awesome job with all of the decorations and games.  I made some tags for the favors for the little kids.  To fit with the theme, I made a construction bear holding a stop sign.  I had to recall some sets from retirement to make this one.  The bear is one of my favorites from the retired set Under the Stars.  The hat is from the Family Business retired set.  I stamped it on daffodil delight and cut it out.  It fit perfectly on the bear's head.  The stop sign is a hexagon from the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die.  I used a toothpick for the stick.  The words are handwritten using the white gel pen.  We wrote each child's name on the tag on the right side of the yellow bar.  She attached them to a cute fire engine thermal lunch bag filled with treats.

Then I made a matching birthday card for my nephew.  I used the Chevron border punch for the side and the words are from the retired Family Phrases set.  I miss this cute bear!  Hope you enjoyed this blast from the past.

Here are the non-retired supplies I used to make the tags and card:

Tea Time Mouse Card

The mouse is back!  She is also in my posts from February 9th and 12th.   I just love this little mouse made from the Playful Pals stamp set.  This time, she is in a card I made for Inspiration Night.  Our March Inspiration Night theme was Opportuni-Tea and we invited guests so that we could share the great opportunity in joining Stampin' Up!, especially during  Sale-A-Bration where the $99 starter kit gets you $155 in products of your choice.  Our swap theme was to incorporate tea or cookies in our swap.

I stamped the mouse using crumb cake.  I drew her tail with a crumb cake marker and face using the Project Life journaling pens and the watermelon wonder marker.  The little heart is punched from the heart border punch.  The sunflower is punched from the flower medallion punch and the center is a 1 3/4" circle.  The sentiment on the sunflower is from the Balloon Celebration stamp set.  Then when you open the card, which is folded along the bottom edge, there is a pocket for tea.

The "Tea" comes from the Balloon Celebration stamp set.  I punched the pocket using the word window punch several times to create the wider opening.  The flap was created by scoring 2 " from the edge.  (The card was made from a 4 1/4 x 11" piece of cardstock that was scored at 2" and 4 1/4".)  I attached the flap using mini glue dots so that it would hold securely.  You can also insert a gift card, such as Starbucks or Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.  I think I may incorporate this card in my April card class.  Hope you enjoy tea-time!

March Card Class "The Cottage Life" Cards

Class this weekend featured the Cottage Life card kit and Sale-A-Bration (SAB) products.  All products used for the cards are listed at the end of this post.

From the Cottage Life Card kit--we made 1 each of the 3 designs in the kit.  The kit includes all of the supplies to make the cards.  We just needed to supplement it with the Cottage Greetings stamp set and classic pads in Basic Gray and Delightful Dijon.  The cards are very pretty and of high quality.  The kit is a great value--15 cards with embelishments and silver foil lined envelopes for only $16.

The other 3 cards for class featured Sale-A-Bration (SAB) products.  The card below uses the Pedal Pusher (SAB) stamp set in conjunction with the Beautiful Ride stamp set.  Olivia gave me the idea to use the little dog so he is in the bicycle basket.  I think he makes the card so cute.  The background designer paper is from the Wildflower Fields (SAB) designer paper.  The card is a panel card, cut at 4 1/4 x 11" and scored at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2".

The next card uses the Sky is the Limit (SAB) stamp set that was inspired by a card that I saw on-line.  It's a perfect masculine card for all ages.  The words in the stamp set cover all occasions.  In addition to the sentiment below, it includes Happy Birthday, Congratulations, and You Send Me Soaring.  The plane was stamped with Archival Basic black so that it would not smear when it was colored with Clear Wink of Stella for some sparkle.  We used a brad in the propeller for an additional accent.  The  World Traveler textured embossing folder matches the theme perfectly.

The final card was inspired by a card I saw on Shelli's blog several months ago.  It is the perfect card to use all of those designer paper scraps that we all have lying around.  The Washi Tape punch was used to punch the pieces.  This card features the Wildflower Fields (SAB) designer paper and the matching Flowering Fields (SAB) stamp set.
